When to call 999
In emergency and life-threatening situations call 999.
Urgent Medical Advice
For urgent telephone advice that cannot wait fot the next available appointment please request a telephone consultation. The receptionist will take your telephone number and some details, and the doctor will return your call as soon as possible.
Urgent Medical advice when the surgery is closed
If you require urgent medical advice that cannot wait until the surgery reopens please contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
Derwentside PCT also runs The OUT-OF-HOURS service and you can contact them by ringing 01207 214707. A message on the answering machine will tell you which number to ring to get in touch with a doctor.
If a visit from a doctor is required after 6:30pm, it is unlikely to be your own doctor who calls.
