Flu Vaccination
If you fall into one of the following groups of people, you are more vulnerable to the effects of flu (even if you feel fit and healthy) and could develop more serious illness such as bronchitis and pneumonia. It could also make any existing condition worse.
Flu vaccinations are available in the first instance to:
• All those aged 65 years and over.
• All those aged 6 months or over in a clinical risk group ie: all patients with chronic disease such as chronic respiratory disease, including asthma, copd, chronic heart disease, chronic renal disease, chronic liver disease, diabetes, immunosuppression (patients undergoing chemotherapy, removal of spleen, HIV).
• Those patients living in long stay residential care homes.
If you are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill you are also welcome to make an appointment for a flu jab.
Our Flu Clinics usually start in October.
