Diabetic Clinic
Diabetes Mellitus now affects approximately 2-3% of the population. Patients with diabetes suffer from symptoms such as an inability to reabsorb water which may lead to increased urine production, excessive thirst, excessive hunger, and a gross fluctuation in weight with a loss of energy.
There are 2 types of diabetes. Type I and Type II. Type I is insulin dependant. It is the most severe form and can often occur in individuals under the age of 35. Type II is more common affecting 90% of all diagnosed cases, it normally occurs in people who are over forty and are either overweight or obese.
The Diabetic Clinic is run by Dr Tim Butler GP with a special interest in Diabetes, with sessions currently running bi-monthly. It is possible to use this facility rather than the hospital diabetic clinic. In between Dr Butler’s clinic, practice nurse Lynne Bryan also offers advice and support on diabetic management.
